BIO

Jess Milne is an Australian photographer known for creating cinematic, emotionally grounded imagery that feels natural, expressive and quietly powerful. With a foundation in fine art, theatre and design, her work blends documentary instinct with a strong visual aesthetic, capturing people, moments and environments with honesty and depth.

Before focusing on photography and cinematography, Jess built her creative career in VFX, motion graphics and post-production. That background shaped her eye for composition, light and storytelling, and continues to influence the way she approaches still images today, with an emphasis on mood, narrative and authenticity.

Jess works across portraiture, lifestyle and storytelling photography, creating imagery that feels human and art-led rather than overly posed. Whether working with individuals, families or creative collaborators, her approach is calm, collaborative and guided by genuine connection.

Jess has had a few big wins in screen work including the AACTA-winning Finding Addison and the Grand Prix-winning short film Mate, recognised at the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival.

Jess holds degrees in theatre and fine art, Digital Design (First Class Honours), and a Master of Screen Arts and Business from AFTRS. She is a full member of the Australian Cinematographers Society (ACS) and Screen Producers Australia.
